Course submission EOIs – One week out, are you on track?
We’re now well into the Coursework Suite Renewal phase of the MQ curriculum transformation project and with a strong start in course submissions from Faculties it’s looking like we’re on track to meet the deadline.
Faculties were asked to complete their Expressions of Interests (EOIs) – which is the first stage of the course submission process for their 2020 course offerings – by 24 August, next Friday. With around 25% of the expected volume of EOI’s already received (as at Thursday 16 August), Faculties have achieved an enormous amount in a short space of time.
Still work to do
With this in mind, Faculties now have one more week to submit the remaining 75% of their EOIs. Meeting all key deadlines in the renewal process is important to avoid bottlenecks of work and with this initial piece of the process not requiring a significant amount of detail before submission, Faculties are encouraged to leave the more complicated course detail until after all their EOIs have been completed.
Remember, there is support for Faculties throughout the renewal process:
- Drop-in Centres are available throughout August on Tuesdays and Thursday’s in 16 Wally’s Walk (16WW) Room 108 (formerly known as C8A108), staffed by The Curriculum and Planning Team.
- Speak to your Faculty Implementation Group representative (listed here) who will ensure your questions are raised and answered by subject matter experts across the project team.
- Check the FAQs here and check back as these will be updated on an ongoing basis.
Student Management Program Naming Competition Winner
From a competitive field of 132 names, suggested by 51 different staff members, a winning name was decided upon – Project Beacon.
This name was submitted by a few people, but the first person to enter the name (who is therefore the competition winner) was Alison Guerreiro from Student Administration. Congratulations Alison, a $250 voucher for Macquarie Shopping Centre is coming your way.
The name ‘Beacon’ clearly fits with the objectives for the Student Management Program, which are focused on improving the student experience at Macquarie University. Project Beacon will light the way on our journey towards modernising our business processes, practices and systems to offer a greatly improved experience for both staff and students.
Project Beacon specifically includes the selection and implementation of a new Curriculum Management System and Student Management System to replace our existing Webforms, Handbook and AMIS systems.
The micro course name-game winner will be published in next week’s newsletter.
(“Beacon lights the way” was first published on This Week, Tuesday 14 August)
